“We are happy that our long and consistent preparations have produced excellent results, the changeover to the euro at our bank has been smooth and went as planned. Soon after midnight, our customers could withdraw their first euro notes, and today we are ready to service customers at ten branches of our bank in major cities where they can exchange cash in the litas with the euro free of charge and use other daily banking services. The internet bank was available earlier than planned. We invite customers to check their account balances in the euro,” says CEO of SEB Raimondas Kvedaras.
Since midnight on January 1st when SEB ATMs started dispensing euro notes until 12.00 o’clock (noon) today, the amount of cash withdrawn at ATMs is 385 thou euro. The total number of cash withdrawal transactions in the euro is 5044, which is 5 times less compared to an average day. Average amount withdrawn - 75 euro. The first euro note was withdrawn - 10 euro.
January 1st is not a regular banking day, however, today some branches of SEB Bank are open until 6.00 p.m., where customers may exchange currency, withdraw cash or deposit cash to their bank accounts, find out balances of their bank accounts, execute or terminate deposit agreements, submit payment orders.
After the changeover to the euro, SEB plans the larger flow of customers willing to exchange the litas with the euro, therefore some SEB branches will be open longer than usual, and some branches will be open also on days off and holidays. At that time customers will be serviced by a larger number of bank's front-office staff than usual. The working hours of branches can be found here https://www.seb.lt/eng/euro/services-end-year.
