The additional safety feature has been installed for log-in to the Internet Bank
As of today, customers who login to the Internet Bank by using Smart-ID app, will be also required to enter their personal identification number upon log-in from a new device – the one they haven’t used before to log-in to Internet Bank. If the customer has already entered his/her data, such customer will not be required to enter the data again, unless the customer has deleted the browsing data.
“The number of cases when fraudsters with the help of social engineering mislead private individuals and they give access to the Internet Bank is increasing. The fraudsters are using more and more sophisticated ways of deceit to achieve their aims, therefore people should be watchful and attentive. In our turn, we do our best to educate the public and improve its financial literacy so that people are not trapped by fraudsters, and in similar situations we act fast, drawing our customers’ attention to similar type fraudster activities. The additional safety feature will enable us to ensure higher security for the Internet Bank us-ers“, says Audrius Šapola, Head of the Prevention at SEB bank Lithuania.
The customer will be required to specify his/her personal identification number, if the customer uses Smart-ID app to log-in from any smart device (personal computer, mobile phone, tablet PC), if the cus-tomer previously did not log-in from such device to the Internet Bank.
We would like to remind that PIN1 code should be entered by the customer to Smart-ID app only in one case: for log-in to the Internet Bank and PIN2 for confirmation of payment and other transactions via the Internet Bank. To ensure safety, the control code is displayed on the Login Screen for the customer at the moment of log-in to the Internet Bank is the same code as is displayed in Smart-ID app. The PIN codes are not saved on the smart device of Smart-ID user, therefore the customer’s data will remain safe and se-cure in case the device is lost.
